Bach meets Chick Corea: In three musical chapters, Samuel Gogniat and Mathis Wolfer blend Baroque music and jazz fusion. Through their own collages and improvisations, these two masters of variation engage in a musical dialogue. Bach’s Inventions and Corea’s “Children’s Songs” meet excerpts from the “Goldberg Variations.” Following Bach’s “Italian Concerto” and the “French Suite No. 1,” an improvisation on Corea’s “Spain” bridges the gap to jazz fusion.
