Bach and his younger admirer, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, link arms in a friendly manner. Vilde Frang’s solo violin fused in the most beautiful way with Julia Doyle’s soprano.
Although other Romantic composers such as Robert Schumann later engaged more intensively with the Thomaskantor, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy deserves the honour of having initiated the renaissance of Bach's vocal works with the first (re-)performance of the newly arranged St Matthew Passion on 11 March 1829.
