Johann Sebastian Bach and his first wife Maria Barbara celebrated their wedding in the small village of Dornheim near Arnstadt in October 1707. the wedding of J.S. Bach and his first wife Maria Barbara. It seems that Bach had been waiting a long time for this, and the sudden inheritance he received on the death of an uncle finally enabled him to provide a real dowry for Maria Barbara. The wedding is celebrated in October in the small church of St Bartholomew by Pastor Johann Lorenz Staub, a friend of Bach's for whom he will write one of his very first cantatas, Cantata BWV 196, in 1708.
His marriage to Maria Barbara resulted in the birth of seven children, two of the four survivors of whom became famous musicians: Bach's sons Carl Philipp Emanuel and Wilhelm Friedemann.
