Johann Sebastian Bach was not only educated as a musician by his extended family in Thuringia – it was also here that he developed a love of making music at home, which characterised and influenced him throughout his life.

And this love of music is still alive today in Bach country, in choirs, ensembles and in many private homes where music is part of family life. We want to celebrate the warm, family side of the composer by making house music and its connecting power visible in the festival.

We therefore invite you once again to open your home to music lovers for the festival's opening concert. No matter what music you prefer to play, your concert will be a place to meet others and will set the tone for the many concerts that evening. We look forward to your initiative!
