Solomon's Knot

V17 | Keiser: Markus-Passion

Thuringia

Arnstadt - Bachkirche

Bach was already working on the 1702 St Mark Passion by Gottfried Keiser when he was in Weimar. He extended it with his own choral movements and, exactly 300 years ago, performed it on Good Friday in Leipzig. A fascinating early passion which Bach demonstrably esteemed highly, experienced in Solomon’s Knot’s soloistic arrangement as a colourful moving version.
