This concert offers a premiere 300 years later. For at the centre of this afternoon are some cantatas by Telemann which were first performed in Eisenach in 1710 and then totally forgotten. The cantatas with texts by Erdmann Neumeister provide an important contribution to the model of the Thuringian church cantata – and may well have had effects on Bach’s work.
