It is the beginning of a sonnet by Metastasio in which the poet describes how he is carried away by his own verses – and with which the violinist, Elicia Silverstein, headlines her programme: “The dreams and fables I fashion” naturally include Bach’s incomparable works for solo violin but also no less impressive old and new compositions. “Elicia Silverstein is not the first artist to combine Biber with Berio, Baroque with modern. But she is perhaps currently the most exciting director of such a violin panorama. How naturally this young violinist programmes this exciting expressive music is breath-taking.” (SWR)
