V28 | Tenebrae

Tenebrae, one of the world’s leading vocal ensembles, comes to the Bach Festival with a truly tempting programme. Alongside motets by Bach and Bruckner is Allegri’s famous Miserere whose history is somewhat of a myth – composed exclusively for Easter week in the Sistine Chapel it was no lesser composer than Mozart who heard the piece during a mass and subsequently wrote it out from memory.

Nigel Short – conductor

Johann Sebastian Bach
Motets „Komm, Jesu, komm“ BWV 229
„Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied“ BWV 225
Chorale „Wenn ich einmal soll scheiden“ BWV 244

Gregorio Allegri

Anton Bruckner
Motets “Pange lingua”
“Christus factus est”
“Os justi”

and works by Alonso Lobo, Francis Poulenc, Max Reger, and Heinrich Schütz
