V20 | Purcell Choir & Orfeo Orchestra

It is likely that Johann Sebastian Bach, at his last passion service on Good Friday 1750, performed a passion that was a typical example for the time of the free interchange between his own works and those of others. Bach used the work of Carl Heinrich Graun whom he admired and extended it with a few movements as well as with others by his friend, Georg Philipp Telemann. This created a large two-part passion which can now be heard for the first time at the place of Bach’s baptism and where Telemann also worked in Eisenach.
