The American cellist, Steuart Pincombe, quickly made a name for himself as an exquisite interpreter of early and contemporary music who was keen to experiment. He plays in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw as well as in breweries and cafes and presents his music in unusual places within the framework of his project “music in familiar spaces”. For him, Bach’s six solo cello suites are a most important part of his repertoire – but are also the most intimate of works. This intimacy is also a starting point for both his appearances in Thuringia in which you can hear Bach face to face, eye to eye with the audience.
