The advance sale is now open!

Dear friends of the Thuringia Bach Festival,

the time has come: as of now, you can make binding bookings for your tickets for our postponed festival, which will take place from September 8 to 21, 2021. This is possible via this website as well as via hotline +49 (0)361-37 42 0 and the affiliated advance booking offices. We have more than 30 concerts planned in the Thuringian Bach towns - including guest performances by Meret Becker, Solomon's Knot, Midori Seiler, Sergei Babayan, Maurice Steger, German Brass and Roomful of Teeth.

Based on current Corona protection ordinances, we are currently planning for 50 percent occupancy. This is for your safety as well as ours, but unfortunately also means that some concerts are currently no longer available due to numerous advance reservations. We ask for your understanding in this matter. Should we be allowed to increase our seating capacity in the meantime, we will inform you immediately.

Thuringia Bach Festival
Thuringia's great music festival

The Thuringia Bach Festival is the largest classical music festival in Thuringia. Specialising in baroque music and the performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s works in authentic Bach locations in the state, the Festival exerts artistic and touristic pulling power, both in Germany and further afield.

The starting point for the Festival is the unique historic potential of the state of Thuringia. With the Bach house and baptismal church in Eisenach, the wedding church in Dornheim, the early workplaces in Muehlhausen, Arnstadt and Weimar as well as houses belonging to forbears in Erfurt and Wechmar, Thuringia possesses a wide range of authentic Bach locations.

Today the Thuringia Bach Festival is one of the most successful projects in the cultural landscape of central Germany which manages to combine the rich history of our state with the present in an ideal way. Since its re-foundation in 2005, the Bach Festival with its clear and innovative mission has earned great respect, both amongst specialist circles and from audiences.

Alongside the three week festival at Easter, the Thuringia Bach Festival organises selected events such as additional concerts and master classes. Johann Sebastian Bach’s music can be heard throughout the year in Thuringia and the Thuringia Bach Festival is its keenest ambassador.

Bachland Thuringia

The state of Thuringia forms an ideal backdrop to the festival because of the unique role it played in the life of Johann Sebastian Bach.
