V11 | Cantus Thuringia
Musica Poetica

We cannot be sure how Bach’s original St Mark Passion might have sounded in Leipzig when it was premiered in 1731: while Picander’s libretto remains, the music has been lost. However, there have been various attempts to make Bach’s third passion audible – including Jorn Boysen’s 2010 reconstruction. Cantus Thuringia perform this conducted by the originator: a new discovery at Bach’s baptismal stone in Eisenach.
