Violaine Cochard and Edouard Ferlet
Bach Plucked / Unplucked

Since the advent of Jacques Loussier connecting jazz and Bach is certainly nothing unusual. However, with Violaine Cochard and Edouard Ferlet this connection goes one step further. Surprising sound worlds are opened up when the early music expert, Cochard, performs on the harpsichord in musical dialogue with the jazz pianist, Ferlet. What unites the two is the obvious art of improvisation in both jazz and the Baroque – here and there with different forces and styles but always with great freedom and variety. Whether it is plucked or struck, Bach as a master of counterpoint provides the basis for contrasting sounds which sometimes sound like jazz and other times like minimal music but which always enable the Baroque master to shine through.
