Solomon’s Knot
motets by Johann Sebastian and Johann Christoph Bach

The idea of a collective is already implicit in their name and perfectly describe the artistic conception of Solomon’s Knot. They do not have an artistic director who prescribes their development, rather the ensemble members work out their programmes, interpretation and group identity together. The resulting close connection with each other leads to intense artistic experiences, both for interpreters and audiences which is increased since the musicians perform from memory.

With their performance of the St John Passion which opened the Festival in 2017 Solomon’s Knot left an enduring impression in Thuringia – on this occasion they return to Arnstadt with an ambitious selection of motets by Johann Christoph and Johann Sebastian Bach.
