2020 is a year of change for all of us. The cancellations of all concerts were a huge disappointment but we want to look ahead in these challenging times. 2020 is the year in which we are still here, in which we are back and in which we are planning the future. New Fellowship for Bach specialists

The Glenn Gould Bach Fellowship honours the name of one of the world's most influential and iconic pianists. Famed for both his legendary performances of Bach and for his ground-breaking engagement with film and recording technology, the Fellowship seeks to emulate and celebrate these same qualities by helping a mature, established artist to recreate the music of the Baroque for the 21st Century. Using the most up-to-date technology, the Glenn Gould Bach Fellow will create over the course of the Fellowship an artistic artefact or series of artefacts that will capture their unique vision. Each two year Fellowship will thus enable an outstanding musician to realise an artistic vision of stature and in the process make a statement about the music of the Baroque that endures.

Awarded by the city of Weimar, in collaboration with the Thuringia Bach Festival. Made possible by the Philip Loubser Foundation. For further information click here »https://www.ggbfellowship.org«

Cancellation & ticket returns

The Thuringia Bach Festival 2020 will be cancelled.

It is obvious that this was a tough decision for us: We've planned and organise this season for almost 2 years, have already sold many tickets - cancelling all this means a lot for us, emotionally and financially. However, we will hopefully survive this challenge and be back next year with a new, healthy festival season 2021.

You have already purchased tickets for our festival – thank you very much for this! Of course you can return these, and we will refund you the full purchase price. How this works, you will find out -> here.

We would like to encourage you to consider not to return your concert tickets. For our festival, the cancellation is a huge challenge that might effect its existence. So any support is welcome - for ourselves, but also for the artists and partners of the festival, whom we want to help at least to compensate their costs incurred. So you are cordially invited simply not to return your tickets. Alternatively, you can return your tickets and donate the refunded amount or a part of it to the association or you can send us your tickets including a waiver of refund of the ticket price by mail and thus donate the amount to the association. You can also send us such a waiver of repayment of the ticket price by e-mail. In the last two cases we will gladly send you a deductible donation receipt upon request.

Bachland Thuringia

The state of Thuringia forms an ideal backdrop to the festival because of the unique role it played in the life of Johann Sebastian Bach.
