Two of Bach’s sonatas for recorder and harpsichord provide the starting point for an ambitious musical journey which the recorder player, Friederike Vollert, EUBO prize-winner at the 2017 Musica Antiqua competition in Bruges, and Hans Christian Martin, Wenzel organist at the city church in Naumburg, undertake in this concert. Bach’s impressive polyphony and architecture create a delightful bridge to the music of David Bowie – in complete opposition to Karlheinz Stockhausen’s “Zodiac Signs” which provide a surprising counterpoint to this programme.
