Rudolf Lutz
“Faust in Bach” – an improvised organ concert on Easter Sunday

In the 17th and 18th Centuries Erfurt was the centre of the Bach family in Thuringia: at the same time important influences on, and students of, Bach such as Johann Pachelbel, Johann Gottfried Walter and Johann Christian Kittel were engaged on the organs of the Prediger Church and surrounding churches. This concert illustrates this rich musical heritage in a variety of sound pictures and gives new life to the improvisatory art of the organ in dialogue with the audience. This sound excursion between Faust, Luther and Bach pays homage to the specific aura of Easter Sunday.
