For the French choreographer, Claire Croizé, the body is a sensitive instrument which functions as a resonant space for a dancer’s emotions. In her works, Croizé explores these emotions and creates an intimate connection with the audience in the process. Following her solo project based on The Art of Fugue with the B’Rock Orchestra, Claire Croizé has devoted herself for a second time to a work based on Bach’s music. Together with the pianist and composer, Matteo Fargion she has taken preludes from the Well-tempered Clavier as well as original transcriptions of Bach chorales as the starting point for a playful argument with Bach. Poems by Rainer Maria Rilke used as song lyrics by Fargion also provide inspiration. These give rise to a contemporary homage to Bach which is not just a tribute but also a gift, both for the artists and the audience – a loving ode and search for possibilities amongst interconnections.
