If there is a musical equivalent to a birthday bouquet it is the pastiche: an overflowing colourful mixture of individual movements in varied form and sound colourations forged together in a new way.  

The Lantana Camara ensemble, which has borrowed its floral name from a verbena, has put together a varied mixture of works from 1725, exactly 300 years ago, for the concert to celebrate Bach’s birth. It makes you want more and fits perfectly into the Festsaal of the Friedenstein Castle in Gotha  - which with its full 1250 years’ history has also earned a serenade.
