St Mark Passion BWV 247
V14 | Musica Poetica & Cantus Thuringia
Thuringia
Arnstadt - Bachkirche
We cannot today be sure how Bach’s St Mark Passion, originally performed in Leipzig in 1731, might have sounded. While the libretto by Picander remains in its entirety, the music has been lost. There have been various attempts to make this third Bach passion audible for us – including the 2010 reconstruction by Jörn Boysen. This is performed by Cantus Thuringia directed by the creator: a discovery on Good Friday on the hour of Jesus’ death.
