St Matthew Passion BWV 244
V12 | Cappella Amsterdam & Orchestra of the 18th century
Thuringia
Gotha - Margarethenkirche
For many decades there has been a close connection with Bach’s St Matthew Passion in the Netherlands. The work can be heard in many locations during passion tide and is a favourite and unmissable date in the calendar for both audiences and interpreters. With the Orchestra of the 18th Century and the Cappella Amsterdam, two of the best ensembles known for their expertise in historical performance practice present their interpretation of this great work. Conducted by Frans Brüggen they initially created music history; now for some years with Daniel Reuss in a change of generations they have consolidated the ensemble’s reputation for high quality.
