Mahan Esfahani, who comes originally from Iran, had already established himself in the forefront of harpsichordists in his early years. After studying history and musicology at Stanford he studied with the legendary Zuzana Růžičkov´a in Prague. In 2011 he gave the first ever harpsichord recital at the BBC Proms, since which he has been heard across the world as both a soloist and a chamber musician. In Erfurt Esfahani will contrast Bach’s music with modern sounds and will thus provide an excellent opportunity to get to know the much under-estimated full sound universe of the harpsichord.
