Since studying with Anner Bylsma, the Basque cellist, Josetxu Obregón has become one of the most celebrated cellists in the early music world. He has won numerous competitions and regularly performs with such famous colleagues as Jordi Savall and Christina Pluhar. The programme which he performs twice in Thuringia charts the cello’s journey from continuo to solo instrument, starting with the Italians in the 17th Century up to Bach’s famous suites for solo cello.
