From Weimar straight into the first rank of international cellists: Alexey Stadler has recently started on a breath-taking career. He had just finished studying in Weimar when he won the TONALi12 Grand Prix and became a sought-after young star, playing with Valery Gergiev and even in the Royal Albert Hall in London. However, he has taken time out for the Thuringia Bach Festival for a very special programme. Together with the Swiss singers, Stadler plays works for choir and solo cello, music which is seldom heard and has a unique warm tonality.
